A Webinar on the book titled ““Walking With The Mahatma: Gandhi for Modern Times” authored by Dr N. Radhakrishnan was organized by BSG and Gandhi Media Centre on 10th March 2021.

BSG participated in a Special Webinar organised by Dr N. Radhakrishnan, Founder, Gandhi Media Foundation, on 10th March 2021. The webinar focused on the book titled “Walking With The Mahatma: Gandhi for Modern Times” authored by Dr N. Radhakrishnan.

The book captures the thought-provoking dialogue between Dr Radhakrishnan and SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and effectively highlights the relevance of Gandhian thought today. In a world governed by systems, skills and structures claiming to be for people’s good, the human angle is often pushed aside. The book implores us to turn this around and puts forward ways to do this.

Eminent speakers from around the world who spoke at the webinar were Mr Michael Yap, Deputy Director General, Singapore Soka Association, Dr Namrata Sharma, Professor, State University of New York at Oswego, Dr Anoop Swaroop, Vice-Chancellor, Jagran Lakecity University, Dr Sethu Kumanan, Founder, Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women, Dr Wendy Yee, Director – CITRa, University of Malaya, Prof. Bill Bhaneja, Former Diplomat, Prof. William Baskaran, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Gandhigram University, Dr Vedabhyas Kundu, Programme Officer, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti and Dr Manish Sharma, Chairperson, Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, Panjab University.

On behalf of BSG, Mr Vishesh Gupta, Chairperson, Bharat Soka Gakkai and Dr Akash Ouchi, Honorary Deputy Chairperson, Bharat Soka Gakkai, addressed the gathering.

The speakers shared their views from different portions of the book. It was shared that the book was more than just a dialogue as it captured the very ethos and the philosophy of human goodness. They also felt that reading through the book has been a very humbling experience and a spiritual journey.

The panellists shared how they found the book extremely relevant especially during the pandemic times. They also shared that the book is source of great inspiration for many.

Dr N Radhakrishnan thanked BSG for participating in the webinar and for wholeheartedly carrying out the vision of President Ikeda in the Indian Society.

This webinar, attended by over 1200 members and friends of BSG, was part of a series of webinars being organised to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of President Ikeda’s first visit to India in the year 1961.
