IIIT Hyderabad made a thoughtful decision to introduce its students to the concept of sustainability right at the outset of their academic journey. They held the 146th SOHA during the induction week. This proactive approach aimed to instill a sense of environmental responsibility and social consciousness among the incoming batch.
Twenty-two student volunteers collaborated to curate an engaging exhibition that showcased the essence of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The exhibition garnered significant interest from the student body, with approximately 250 students visiting the event.
Their ideas and doubts, ranging from the technicalities of specific SDGs to the broader implications of sustainable living, not only proved their inquisitiveness but also provided invaluable feedback to the BSG volunteer team on campus. These interactions enriched the exhibition experience, fostering a dynamic learning environment where students felt empowered to question, understand, and contribute to a sustainable future.
Students demonstrated enthusiasm in exploring the SOHA panels and actively participated in discussions with the student volunteers. The exhibition served as a platform for knowledge sharing, inspiring students to consider the impact of their actions on the environment and society.
The positive reception of the exhibition has encouraged us to plan additional SOHA events throughout the year, aiming to cultivate a sustainable campus culture throughout the country.
