The SDG Club of Moti Ram Arya Modern Public School, Panchkula, organized an awareness program which included the display and explanation of two important environmental models:
Rainwater Harvesting Model
Students demonstrated how rainwater falling on rooftops can be collected through pipes and stored in underground tanks instead of going to waste. The model also showed how this water can be filtered and reused for gardening, cleaning, and other household needs. Through this, students explained how rainwater harvesting helps save water, recharge groundwater, and tackle water shortages in a practical way.
Waste Segregation Model
The second model focused on segregating waste at the source into three categories:
- Wet waste (food scraps, peels, leftovers)
- Dry waste (plastic, paper, glass)
- Hazardous waste (batteries, medicines, e-waste)
Students shared how proper waste segregation makes recycling and composting easier and plays a key role in keeping our surroundings clean and healthy.
This hands-on learning experience helped students move beyond theory, equipping them with practical solutions they can apply in daily life to build more sustainable communities.
