Organised by Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG), the 2nd BSG Awards for Excellence in Sustainability will honour individuals, organisations and initiatives whose work is advancing a more sustainable and compassionate world. The awards give visibility to meaningful action and encourage more people to contribute towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the heart of the awards is Sustainable Human Behaviour (SHB), BSG’s belief that lasting change begins with how we think, choose and act. By learning about sustainability, reflecting on our choices, taking action and empowering others, each person can help protect the dignity of all life and build healthier communities.

Recognition across sectors

The second edition recognises contributions across 14 categories, including circularity, biodiversity conservation, sustainable fashion and craftsmanship, education and youth empowerment, healthcare and well-being, gender equality, technology and innovation, and community action. Nominations are assessed by a jury with expertise in sustainability, development, health and community engagement.

The inaugural ceremony, held in New Delhi on 3 September 2025 with Mr Amit Chandra as Chief Guest, recognised changemakers including Ziro Festival, iKure and St. Jude India ChildCare Centres. This year’s awards build on that shared journey.

Inspiring action beyond the awards

By sharing changemakers’ stories, the awards seek to encourage learning and new partnerships among individuals, educational institutions, community groups and businesses. The aim is to help meaningful ideas reach more people and inspire sustained action beyond the event. They carry forward the spirit of humanitarian competition: striving to contribute more to society while encouraging others to do the same.
