BookDaisaku lkeda is a prolific author of more than 150 works which range from philosophical treatises to children’s books, as well as essays on numerous subjects and poetry. His best known work, the multivolume The Human Revolution, is a novelized historical account of the development and growth of the Soka Gakkai. Ikeda also has pioneered the publication of dialogues in which he has discussed the pressing issues facing our world with such notable figures as Arnold Toynbee, Linus Pauling, Ba Jin, Mikhail Gorbachev and Hazel Henderson.

lkeda has written countless poems in the traditional Japanese forms of haiku and waka, and many in a longer form in which he blends poetry and a narrative structure. Many of his poems have been penned as encouragement to SGI members around the world, while others have been dedicated to his friends and noted cultural and intellectual figures with whom he has met.

In 1981, Ikeda received the title of poet laureate from the World Academy of Arts and Culture. He is also a non-resident member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters.
