Seeds of Change – “The Earth Charter & Human Potential Exhibition” in Chandigarh  (April  2007)  

Bharat Soka Gakkai hosted the SGI exhibition, “The Earth Charter & Human Potential,” from April 18 to May 2, 2007 at Chandigarh. Inaugurated by Haryana Governor Dr. A.R. Kidwai, the event drew more than 23,000 visitors. 

Dr. Kidwai who is a leading Gandhian and eminent scholar, in his speech, appreciated the peace and environment related activities being carried out by Bharat Soka Gakkai. He appreciated the theme of the exhibition – on how to have sustainable development, without damaging the environment. 

The purpose of the exhibition was to create an awareness about the global environmental issues. The Exhibitions 16 panels and the film – “A Quiet Revolution”, which was screened, features activists like Ms. Wangari Mathai and Mr. Rajendra Singh, conveyed a message of empowerment. It stressed the power and potential that each single, ordinary individual possess, to bring in a change for the better, in their local communities, and on the importance of informing and awakening ordinary citizens to global Environment concerns. 

Prior to the inauguration, the exhibition was shown in three industrial houses – Ranbaxy, Gilard Electronics Pvt Ltd, Punjab Tractors Limited as well as, at the prestigious Punjab University. The executives of the industrial houses evinced a keen interest since the subject matter of the exhibition discusses amongst other things, the impact of industry on the environment. 

Teachers and students from over 100 schools viewed the exhibition and screening of the film.
